I understand that there are always going to be some complaints, especially in regards to apartments - however, while there have been a few issues (as there always are with a new development), my overall experience has been positive. My boyfriend's mother was able to move into a brand new, affordable apartment - something we were not able to afford for her anywhere else. The apartment is spacious and fairly modern, and every time we have visited, the building is very quiet. Compared to other senior living apartments we visited, this has been a wonderful experience. She has enjoyed meeting other residents, and I noticed yesterday that more options are being offered - like a shuttle to Walmart, CVS, and HEB, and a Bunko night, and other social events. It seems to be a safe area and building and her neighbors are very nice. We feel good having her at El Sereno.

Like Lindie, I don't think they have earned even one star. Many of the things others posted here is what I observed when I visited my long time friend. In addition, there is no free wifi access as they boast on their website. I was in the building on 3 occasions when the elevators stopped working. The only public transportation is a number of senior transport services, and Uber, maybe Lyft, none of which are reasonable for someone living on social security. I tried to post without a star but site will not allow it, therefore I will grudgingly give them one star which they have not earned.

I referred a number of my acquaintances to this complex, and I thank God only 4 of them moved in here. Over the past two weeks I visited each of them at El Sereno along with a number of other residents. This place is unbelievable. Aesthetically the apartments are lovely. However, it was reported to me by these residents that there are multiple problems with the building in general. 1. As I stepped out a door leading to the courtyard there appeared to be what looked like crumbing or chunks of cement outside the door. 2. At least 3 residents reported water leaks in their apartments, from where no one seems to know. 3. Holedem27 is right about many of the residents having to walk very long distances from the parking lot due to the odd parking situation. 4. Many of these elderly folks have lived here for 2 - 3 months without washers and dryers in the laundry room. They can not afford to rent washers and dryers for their apartments. If they don't have family to help them then they have to drive to the laundromat in Schertz. There are a number of them who do not have a vehicle and no one to help them with their laundry, and they have dirty laundry piling up. I drove several of them to the laundromat on Main Street in Schertz and assisted them in completing this task. They are NOT asking for someone to pay their laundry bill. They are simply asking for the coin operated washers and dryers that were supposed to be an amenity. 5. I did not see one of the handicapped accessible apartments. However, I did observe folks in a wheelchair and on scooters who had to have someone open a door leading out to the parking lot as the doors to outside of building are not handicapped accessible. 6. Also, they only recently installed some sort of security system that is supposed to be locked from the outside when office staff is not in building. This is not yet working. The poor quality cement job that I observed along with other reported problems makes me wonder if this company used unskilled labor and/or poor quality materials on this building. This management company, as far as I am concerned broke each lease the day they were signed by not providing residents with proper laundry facilities. It also seems like they are having trouble leasing apartments as according to their website, they are now offering 1/2 month free rent. The fire alarms are not engaging as often as they were but several residents reported that when they cook the alarm engages. To the management and/or owner of El Sereno Senior Living: You don't even deserve one star but I don't think this site will allow me to post without marking at least one.

I am enjoying my stay here. Staff are professional and building is well managed. As we move through the new construction phase and finalizing details, I am excited about the plans in the works. Looking forward to a positive life experience at El Sereno and the possibilities it has to offer me, as well as, what I can offer my Community.

Horrible design for senior living.. residents are expected to use front or far back entrance with very limited parking in front (staff takes up a few of the 12 spots). Seniors must park on side of building and expected to walk all the way to front entrance then back through the long hall to their apartments. Doors on side of building keep them out with no keys or access cards to get in. Too dangerous for elderly. Staff is rude and can careless.. put blame on city since they approved the design.

Apartment are brand new..and very small and cozy.. layout is actually different from the pics or floor plans shown.. *one bed one bath..only entrance thru bedroom. *You will need a stackable washer and dryer..the cheapest are $1200..that we have found. *Who offers washer dryer connections..but stackable only.. yeesh ..? Staff are very nice!! *.2nd and 3rd floors no carpet only vinyl plank floors. Not sure how noise is going to be ? * much needed senior housing... hopefully will be a good decision to move there for me. * pool..weight room. Yoga room..
